1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect:

  • Church name and type
  • Pastor/administrator name
  • Email address
  • Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text)
  • Location/city
  • Church size (approximate)

1.2 Content You Create

  • Songs, lyrics, and media you upload
  • Service schedules you create
  • Sermon notes generated through AI features
  • Backgrounds and theme settings

1.3 Usage Data

  • Features used and frequency
  • Error logs and crash reports
  • App version and operating system

1.4 Audio Data

When using Live Voice Detection:

  • Audio from your microphone or audio input is streamed in real time to OpenAI's transcription service
  • We do not store audio recordings
  • Transcripts are held temporarily during a session and optionally saved as part of service reports if you enable that feature

1.5 AI Interaction Data

  • Sermon generation prompts and outputs
  • Bible detection queries

These are processed by OpenAI and Anthropic under their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Authenticate your account
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Generate AI-powered features
  • Send important service updates
  • Improve the App based on usage patterns
  • Respond to support requests

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Your data is stored on Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.

3.2 Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

3.3 We use Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure each church can only access its own data.

3.4 Audio used for Live Voice Detection is sent from your computer to OpenAI's transcription service for processing and is not stored on our servers. How OpenAI handles it is governed by OpenAI's own policies.

3.5 We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, each of which has its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase: database and authentication
  • OpenAI: voice transcription and AI detection
  • Anthropic: sermon notes generation
  • Stripe: payment processing (we never see your full card number)

We may also disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Audio and AI Processing

Live Voice Detection streams audio to OpenAI's live transcription service. By using this feature you acknowledge:

  • Audio is transmitted to OpenAI's servers
  • OpenAI's Privacy Policy applies to this processing
  • We do not store or retain audio recordings
  • You are responsible for obtaining consent from speakers (pastors, congregation) as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data
  • Opt out of non-essential data processing

To exercise these rights, or to delete your account, email support@studiobyscientist.com. We will respond within 30 days and remove your data from our systems within 30 days of a deletion request.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active plus 30 days after deletion
  • Service reports and schedules: retained until you delete them or your account
  • Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by law
  • Audio data: not retained by us (processed in real time only)

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, contact us immediately.

9. International Users

The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
